Sizy: Size Chart & Recommender (“Sizy” or “the App”, formerly called Size Guide) is a size chart and size recommender app for Shopify stores, operated by Progryss Media Private Limited (“Progryss”, “we”, “us”, “our”). The App runs at sizy.progryss.com.
This policy explains what the App collects, why, who it is shared with, and how long it is kept. By installing or using the App you agree to this policy.
What we collect
From merchants
- Store identity: your myshopify.com domain, store name and store contact email, read from the Shopify Admin API when you install and whenever the App checks your plan.
- Your size charts: chart titles, sections, size tables, measurements, notes, the rules that decide which products a chart shows on, the size recommender’s settings and earlier versions of a chart. These are stored in your own Shopify store as app data (metaobjects), not in our database. The words a shopper reads are also kept as separate translatable entries in your store (“Size chart words” for each chart, and one “Popup words” entry with the popup’s own wording and the button, title, tab and reminder text you set in Appearance), so you can translate them with Shopify’s Translate & Adapt. They hold no numbers, sizes or settings, and the App writes them again from your charts whenever a chart is saved.
- Images you add to a chart: uploaded through our server straight to your store’s Shopify Files. We don’t keep a copy.
- Product information the App works with: product titles, handles, types, vendors, tags, collections, variants and options, so the App can match charts to products and show which products each chart appears on. The chart a product shows is saved as a metafield on that product in your store.
- Settings you enter: how the size guide looks and where it appears, the size recommender’s options, languages and the size guide page. These are stored in your Shopify store as an app setting. If you turn on the size guide page, the App creates and updates that page in your online store.
- Your theme and languages: the App reads your themes (read only) to check whether the size guide is switched on in your theme, and reads your store’s languages and markets so it can show and translate the size guide in each language.
- Your activity in the App: a short log of the changes you make (for example “Chart published – Men’s tops”) with the date, shown to you under Settings › Activity.
- Plan and billing state: which plan your store is on, read from Shopify’s Billing API, a record of the plan subscriptions the App created for your store (the subscription’s id and plan name), and how many size charts your store has.
- Free trial record: paid plans start with a free trial, one per store. To keep it to one, the App records your myshopify.com domain, the plan and subscription of a trial while it runs, the day it started, how many trial days it has, how many trial days your store has used, and whether your trial is over. It holds nothing else.
- Shopify access tokens and sessions, so the App can act on your store on your behalf.
- A browser preference: how many rows per page you like to see in the App’s tables, kept only in your own browser (
localStorage).
From shoppers and customers
The App holds no customer names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses or order data. It does not request Shopify’s customer or order permissions at all: the permissions it asks for cover products, metaobjects and their definitions, files, online-store pages, themes (read only), markets (read only), languages and translations, and nothing else.
The App does run on your storefront, so what it records there is stated precisely. When a product page with a size guide is viewed, the storefront widget sends an event through Shopify’s app proxy. Each event holds:
- what happened: the page with a size guide was viewed, the size guide was opened, the size recommender gave a size, or the shopper added that exact size to the cart;
- the size chart’s id and name, and the product’s title;
- a random session id, created in the shopper’s browser and kept only for that browser session (
sessionStorage); it is not linked to any person, account or device;
- for a size recommender result only: the size given, how confident the match was, and whether the shopper measured with a tape or used height and weight.
For the same browser session only, the shopper’s browser also remembers the size it was given (so an add to cart of that size can be counted) and whether the size guide reminder has already been shown. These stay in the browser and end when the session ends.
The measurements a shopper types into the size recommender (height, weight, chest, waist and so on) are worked out in the shopper’s browser and are never sent to us. The App sets no cookies, and records no IP address, no browser or device information, and nothing that identifies the shopper.
From files and the public web (only when you import a chart)
- Files you import: a CSV, pasted cells, an image or a PDF. Images and PDFs are read inside your own browser; the file is not uploaded to our servers. Only the resulting table is saved, as a new chart. The text-recognition engine used for images downloads its program and language files from a public content delivery network (jsDelivr).
- A product’s description: if you import from a product, product descriptions are read from your store to find the size tables in them.
- A web page you name: if you import from a supplier’s or brand’s page, our server fetches that one public page to read its size tables. Only public addresses are fetched, and the page itself is not stored.
How we use it
- To run the features you use: size charts on product pages, product rules, the size recommender, the size guide page, languages and translations, import and export, bulk edit and version history.
- To show you how your size guide is used: views, opens, size recommender results and add-to-cart matches, in the App’s analytics.
- To apply your plan: the size recommender’s monthly use limit is counted from the size recommender events above, and features your plan doesn’t include are kept locked.
- To give each store one free trial: the free trial record above decides how many trial days a new paid plan starts with, so that changing plan or reinstalling the App carries on the same trial instead of starting a new one.
- To operate, secure and debug the App, and to show your store in our own admin panel for support: store name, domain, contact email, plan, install status, install and uninstall dates, number of charts, and this month’s count of size guide opens and size recommender uses.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or use it to build products for anyone other than you.
AI and automated processing
The App does not send your data to any AI or large language model service. Reading a table from an image uses an open-source text-recognition engine (Tesseract) and reading a PDF uses an open-source PDF reader (PDF.js), both running in your browser. Matching a shopper to a size uses fixed rules and your own chart, worked out in the shopper’s browser.
Sharing & sub-processors
We share data only with the services needed to run the App:
- Shopify: the source of your store data and the place your charts, chart images, settings, translations and product assignments are stored. Translations are made in Shopify’s own Translate & Adapt app, when you choose to use it; the App’s Auto-translate button only opens it for you. Shopify also handles all billing, free trials included: a trial is part of the plan subscription you approve in Shopify, and Shopify bills nothing until it ends.
- jsDelivr: serves the text-recognition engine’s files to your browser when you import from an image. No store or shopper data is sent to it.
- Our hosting provider (DigitalOcean): the cloud server where the App runs and where its database is kept.
We may also disclose data where we are legally required to.
Retention & deletion
While the App is installed, your activity log, storefront events, plan subscription records, free trial record and store record are retained so the App can work and show you your analytics.
When you uninstall:
- Your Shopify access tokens and sessions are deleted immediately, in the uninstall webhook.
- A free trial running at the time stops (Shopify cancels the subscription). The days it used are added to your free trial record, so a reinstall carries on with the days that were left.
- The size guide stops showing on your storefront, because the App’s theme extension is removed with the App.
- Your size charts, their words entries, settings, translations and product assignments are stored in your Shopify store as the App’s own data, and Shopify handles them under its rules for data owned by an uninstalled app. Images you added stay in your Shopify Files, and a size guide page the App created stays in your online store until you delete it.
- Your store record is marked as uninstalled. It keeps your domain, store name, contact email, install and uninstall dates and last number of charts, so we can see that a store installed and left. It contains none of your charts, settings or credentials.
- Your activity log, storefront events, plan subscription records and the store record are permanently deleted when Shopify asks us to remove your store’s data (the
shop/redact request, sent 48 hours after uninstall), and in any case within 30 days of that request.
- Your free trial record is the one exception: it is kept after that request, because deleting it would hand out a new free trial on every reinstall. It holds only your store’s domain and the trial details listed above, no personal data. Write to us if you want it deleted; the store then gets no further free trial.
- Data deleted from our database may remain in our routine database backups until those backups are replaced.
Shopify compliance webhooks (GDPR)
The App responds to all three of Shopify’s mandatory privacy webhooks:
- customers/data_request: because the App stores no customer personal data, there is no customer data to export. We acknowledge every request and confirm this to the merchant within 30 days.
- customers/redact: likewise acknowledged; the App holds no customer records to delete.
- shop/redact: permanently deletes the store’s data in our database: sessions, activity log, storefront events, plan subscription records and the store record. The free trial record is kept, as described under Retention & deletion.
Security & data transfers
All traffic to and from the App is over HTTPS. Requests from your storefront reach the App only through Shopify’s signed app proxy, Shopify’s webhooks are checked against Shopify’s signature, and every page of the App in your Shopify admin checks Shopify’s session before it loads. Access to production systems is limited to staff who need it, and our internal admin panel is behind its own sign-in.
Our servers and the sub-processors listed above may be located outside your country, so your data may be transferred and processed internationally. We rely on the contractual protections offered by those providers for such transfers.
Your rights
Depending on where you are, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the data we hold about you, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent.
- Access and correction: what the App holds is visible and editable inside the App itself: your charts, settings, activity and analytics.
- Export: you can export your size charts from the App on plans that include import and export. On any plan, write to us and we will send you a copy.
- Deletion: uninstalling the App deletes your data as described above. If you want it deleted sooner, or want a copy of it, write to us at the address below and we will action it.
We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising these rights.
Changes to this policy
If we change what the App collects or how it is used, we will update this page and the date at the top.
